I ruined the finish on my kitchen sink - can this be salvaged?
Posted by admin
Serious Sal asked:
I poured a disinfectant for toilets (The Works) on my stainless steel kitchen sink b/c it said it removes rust, lime scale, and hard water stains. I didn’t read the back of the bottle until after I did this and it said to not use on stainless steel. Now my sink has yucky streaks down it and in the crevices, its black. I tried to polish the sink with Clorox powder but it didn’t seem to help. Can anything be done to correct my stupid error?

Unfortunately, the damage is permanent. Read my answer to your question under the Cleaning & Laundry topic for advice on how to minimize the damage.
