sunrizer asked:

I have one of those white kitchen sinks from Lowes, I guess it is acrylic, not sure. I dropped a skillet and the edge of the skillet put a small gash in the top rim of my sink, is there anyway to fix this?

how to secure a corner sink for bathroom?

Friday, March 19th, 2010
answerman3 asked:

it’s a porcelain corner sink, and we plan on installing some 2×8 joists so that we have something to attach the sink to. we’ll drywall first then install the sink.

question, what kind of fasteners do you use against the joists? there are a variety of holes in the back of the sink, is there any specific stress point we want to secure? are there an types of washers to use that sit against the sink so that we don’t have metal (lag bolt, for example) against the porcelain?

How do I clean a stainless steel sink?

Thursday, March 18th, 2010
jamilu asked:

We just moved into our new home (new construction) 6 months ago. My husband bought a rubbermaid “sinksaver” mat to put in the bottom of the sink to protect it from scratches, etc. I don’t necessarily think that that is the source of the problem, but the sink has little brown spots all over it. They look like coffee or tea stains and they aren’t the kind of stains that go away when you clean the sink and then come back when it dries. They are always there. Also, we have hard water. Any insight or suggestions?

Can “Apron front” kitchen sinks be covered with a wood panel?

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010
Lauren Z asked:

I am starting my kitchen remodel and I am hunting for a GREAT sink: it has to be a single basin, oversized and undermounted. I love the size and shape of “apron front” sinks, but I do not want the front of the sink exposed, I would prefer to not see it at all (also why I want a undermounted sink) But I cannot find any sinks that have all three of those together that are not “Apron front” (where you see the front of the sink).

Have you seen this done before or do you have any advice?
I just love the large rectangle sink, but I do not want to have the “front” of my sink on display… does anyone have a good website that sells these or any ideas what I can do?
Thanks!

San Francisco Plumbers Methods To Unclogging The Kitchen Sink, Tub Or Shower Drain

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010
Vincent Ramsey asked:

There are a few ways to unclog the kitchen sink, self-importance or shower drain. If you know these methods, you are able to save yourself from the dear visit from your local San Francisco plumbers. The ways aren’t extraordinarily advanced as folks think. You can expediently use them at your home. You just need to follow the easy steps as discussed below.

The best and most convenient solution for this problem is to use an environmentally safe drain chemical drain unclogger. You just have to pour the product down the drain, and when it is dissolved in a couple of minutes, flush the drain with running water.

- Check if there is any difficulty with the drain pop-up stopper. Sometimes it is clogged with hair and debris.

- If the drain pop-up stopper is clear, there might be an issue with the drain. You can use a plumber’s hand snake to clear the block in the drain. If it doesn’t work, turn the hand snake clockwise, and once it grabs onto the clump, pull the hand snake up and dispose the clump.

- you may employ a wet dry vacuum to unclog the drain. Its sucking power can be extremely effective for the purpose.

Pull the sink strainer or pop-up stopper straight up in order to take it out. Gradually, the block will come loose and you will be ready to dislodge the same.

- After using a toilet plunger or a vacuum, you should run a good flow of water into the drain so that the block might be washed completely out of the pipe.

- in case of a clogged vanity, there might be an issue with the trip lever. The trip lever usually collects hair that causes clogging. To pull out the trip lever and remove the hair, first take away the assembly plate by unscrewing the screws that hold it. After you have cleared the trip lever, put it back down and screw the screws of the assembly plate.

Some Handy Tips Before You Call Your San Francisco Plumbers

- when you’re employing a toilet plunger, and you are unable to pull out the sink sieve or pop-up blocker, just make sure that it is open wide enough to use a toilet plunger.

- If your kitchen sink garbage disposal has stopped. Then push the reset button on it’s underside, then turn on the unit. If the garbage disposal does not work you will need to contact a local licensed San Francisco plumber to possibly replace it.

If you follow the above steps you’ll find it very easy for you to unclog the kitchen sink, vanity or the shower drain.

If you still have no luck call a local San Francisco Plumbers

Selecting the Ideal Undermount Kitchen Sinks for Your Kitchen

Monday, March 15th, 2010
Lena Kavhovsky asked:

Your kitchen requires sink.  But the question for you is what type of sink you will prefer?  Whether it is the traditional sink or the currently more popular undermount kitchen sink?  Those who have never used one might be worried about the leakage at the joining point of the sink with the countertop.  Some people also feel that if they set up a granite countertop, the sink might pull away from it. The experience could be nightmarish if the sink is full of water.

If these are your worries you may come up with a sigh of relief.  One thing you could be well assured about is that your undermount kitchen sink is capable of giving you lifetime leak free service. The only thing you have to take care about is that it is installed properly and the provider is a reliable and reputed one.  In the fiercely competitive commercial world to day, every provider will try to outsmart its rival through apt and attractive publicity stunts.  Do not get carried away with them.  Check for yourself and decide on merit which one suits you the best.

The fact remains that the undermount kitchen sink does not leak just because its end touches the granite or any other countertops. Despite the fact that a standard sink with double bowls carrying a disposer at the side would weigh well over one hundred pounds when filled up with water.  Such weight will try to pull down your sink quite regularly with such weight and soon cracks will appear causing leakage you hate so much.

Your problem resolution could be achieve through high-strength epoxies and in addition to it use of silicone caulk.  Undermount kitchen sink is normally held in place using the metal anchors.  These anchors are glued to the lower side of the stones.  For the purpose, two-part epoxy is used that cures quite rapidly.  Once cured, the tensile strength becomes incredible and holds the kitchen sink in place.  The bead of silicone caulk gives additional strength to the hold.

You have to take care of certain aspects.  First and perhaps the most important of all is that your stoner countertop should be completely free of dust.  Otherwise the epoxy bond will not work.  A good installer will always take the first step to remove the stone dust from underneath your countertop.  These dusts are normally created when the hole is cut to fit your undermount kitchen sink in the countertop. Normally, the fabricator will have to cut a special shape to fit in the sink on your countertop.  Once the cut is completed, he will polish the rough edges of the stone.

Danger in the process is that the water that is frequently used while polishing the rough edges contains tiny particles of stone in it.  They may role into the underside of the countertop easily.  When the water evaporates, the stone or dust is left there and it may cause failure of the epoxy to glue the kitchen sink perfectly.

Of course you can resolve your problem easily by resorting to quality products from a reliable provider.
