On the garbage disposal side, the sink has now filled with black liquid for some reason. What is going on? Tried running the disposal and using pipe cleaner to no avail.

Kitchen Sinks – Designs and Features including Planning Tips

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009
Logan W Smith asked:

It is said that a decent sink should have the capacity to last for 30 years, of course this isn’t the actual time you will keep one sink for but it is comforting to know, especially as, along with your cooker, it is the most used item within your kitchen.

Your sink is where your food preparation starts, as it is here where you will wash fresh vegetables and it is here that you will keep coming back to whilst you are in the cooking stage, whether it be to wash your hands or provide water to certain foods so you can cook. Your sink needs to be durable but on the same note also stylish as remember it stills needs to be incorporated into the rest of the rooms design. It is also important to remember the way your Strata kitchens provides a full range of flat pack kitchens, to help you build your dream kitchen at affordable prices. looks when you first have it plumbed in isn’t going to be the way your room remain, with future trends and decorating projects you need to ensure it is versatile enough to look great in any design and while also remaining usable enough to ensure you can carry out any task you need to.

Planning is vital here, if you are having a complete new kitchen installed then I’m guessing you have a pretty good idea of what want. Knowing what style and what type of fixture you want when it comes to your sink is important, it is the first step to ensuring you get exactly what you are looking for and also means you get the best one for your needs. Your planning will be useful when it comes to sorting through the variety of designs that exist. What has always been a popular choice is the stainless steel model. Not only is this easy to clean it is also highly hygienic and will look great in a modern design. This is an ideal choice for someone who does a lot of home cooking as it provides the easiest way of cleaning up after.

Another design that you could consider is a porcelain enamel on cast iron. It is very popular thanks to its reliability and the fact you can get it in so many styles, meaning it will suit most tastes and styles. The material of the sink is also not your only choice. I say this as you should also keep in mind size. For a busy kitchen, I’m thinking big family or lots of dinner parties as well as a lot of baking and home cooking, you need a deep sink, big enough for all of the pans etc that you will get through. However if you tend to use only a few smaller items then having such a large sink would probably mean you could easily end up with a few breakages. A smaller one will handle these items better as well as ensuring you aren’t unnecessarily using too much water.

Thanks to many advances revolving around the features we can have built into our kitchens, it is now possible to have a number of features included within the sink area; sliding chopping boards, waste disposal and baskets are just a few of the helpful pieces of technology that you may want to opt for. Just make sure that whatever style and design you do end up choosing, you do so as a reflection of your personality as well as your needs within the kitchen area.

Stainless steel sinks- durability at hand!

Monday, November 9th, 2009
Simeon Stevek asked:

Considering the cost of home improvement most of the options open to us today are long term. This comes from the use of versatile materials for designing the basics that any home cannot do without. Kitchen sinks are such components in the modern home.

Steel sinks are becoming increasingly popular the world over for the extended life they grant the kitchen. The unbreakable construction does not chip and matches almost any kitchen décor. They call for very little or no maintenance at all!

These kitchen sinks come in various designs and styles. You could access a single large bowl sink if you face a space constraint or a double bowl kitchen sink if space is not a problem and you are in the habit of multi tasking. The triple bowl stainless steel sinks allow more than one person to access and work around the sink rinse area.

The designs are all sleek and the ‘stainless’ epithet comes from the fact that this quality of steel does not retain water marks and hence remains ‘stainless’! The clean look of the stainless steel sinks integrates with any countertop design and is without a doubt a hygienic choice in kitchen décor. The drop-in design in kitchen sinks makes way for food particles and grime to get trapped and be removed with ease. Stainless steel sinks can be fitted on granite counters or fiber based ones with great ease.

They can be customized to fit into the selected theme of the kitchen and the many manufacturers of the stainless steel sinks even make the products available for viewing online. The free shipping offer made by many manufacturers and retailers dealing in this kitchen component adds to the real value for money aspect of the product. The various designs in steel sinks include bar sinks with sink drains and deep bowl sinks.

The designs and sizes are manufactured keeping in mind the modern home and the latest trends in kitchen décor. You could avail of the component from any remote location across the globe via the internet and the fitting by local tie-ups is free of cost!

New sink not fitting snuggly in old sink opening. How can it be stabilized and secured so it will not slip?

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009
blueso asked:

This is a drop in sink with vanity. New sink in 21 inch, old was 19 inch. However the cutout area has enough size so that the new sink moves around. The old sink had clips to secure it to the vanity underside. New sink does not. Need some way to secure new sink before hooking up all the lines. Thanks for any suggestions.
