I have a heavy thick pipe that comes out from the back wall of my kitchen sink. The threads have rotted out. How do I remove it.
It looks like it may be connected to my clean out valve. IS IT ONE

What’s the best way to recaulk my kitchen sink?

Sunday, June 29th, 2008
TopRamen asked:

I have a ceramic kitchen sink that sits on formica. When we bought our house, we noticed that the caulking was old and there was some water seepage. We tried to recaulk but that didn’t work due to the moisture underneath. What would be a good way to fix this problem? I’m afraid if I just let it go, the formica and wood underneath will rot/warp causing more problems.

My kitchen sink is clogged, and we tried Draino, and it didn’t work. Any other suggestions short of calling a plumber.

Why does a new kitchen sink smell like sulfur from the cold tap only for a few seconds when turned on?

Friday, June 27th, 2008
jerry d asked:

The only sink in the house that smells is the new kitchen sink. It only smells for a few seconds, then is normal. Only cold tap is affected. The pipe feeding the new sink is new also, but the rest of the house plumbing is old piping.

Can a gas stove be moved to stand next to a kitchen sink without any gaps in between?

Friday, June 6th, 2008
WheelBarrow_1 asked:

I am renting an apartment in which the 2nd floor kitchen has an old farmhouse sink on the left, a 5″ gap or so of space, then the gas stove. I wanted to move the gas stove so that there is no space in between the sink and stove. I want to place a workspace cabinet on the otherside of the stove.

1) Are there any safety concerns in having the gas stove moved to touch the side of the sink cabinet?
The sink cabinet is metal. I don’t know why the stove is not directly sitting next to the sink but somebody thought it would be the place for installing an old metal towel rack on the side of the sink cabinet.
2) Can I move the stove myself or do I have to hire someone who is experienced in working with gas appliances?
3) What do I have to do to prepare the stove before I move it over those few inches?
4) Is it safe to have a painted wooden cabinet sit on the otherside of the gas stove? I don’t use the oven, just the gas burners on top.

THANKS!

Connie
