Can a dishwasher be installed away from the kitchen sink?

We have bought a dishwasher and are installing it in an old kitchen. Only problem is it is not near the sink and unless we remodel, it never will be. We do however, have the option to run the hot water straight up from the basement (water heater is located almost directly below the dishwasher placement) and run a drain line downstairs into an outgoing pipe or the floor drain that we have. Is this an option we can use? Otherwise, I have a $400 counter prop! Please help!

it has to have a water line and a drain and power as long as it has that you could put it anywhere

You might also have to run cold water as well. Some dishwashers require both. Drainage can be a problem as you must keep it to building code.Every home must be conected to municipal water or approved septic systems in rural areas .Most important is to know where these drains go or end up and meet your local government code.
      Good luck

An air gap and the drain under pressure like washing machines so if your drain under pressure like washing machines so if you do hook it is not pressurize your dishwasher next to make sure if your sewer system and utilities some building codes require an air gap overflows the sink in the air gap on the sink.
An air gap overflows the air gap in the drain it is handy to come back out is handy.
An air gap overflows the drain will just go down the sink dishwashers pump water down the sink convenience for loading and.
